PA-A Molikpaq

The Molikpaq is the first in Russia offshore oil production platform

Commercial oil production from the platform was launched in 1999. It is a converted drilling rig that was first used in Arctic waters offshore Canada.

Projects implemented at PA-A Molikpaq

Drill rig and equipment upgrading

Drill rig and equipment upgrading

PA-A Rig Refurbishment and Upgrade
The Molikpaq Rig Refurbishment Project aims to provide a functional Drilling Rig which, with proper preventative and corrective maintenance, will last through to 2041 and will have the capability to perform the planned drilling program to a step-out reach of up to 8.5 km.

Detailed Design started in May 2018 and is still ongoing.

PA-A MPQ Gas Buyback

PA-A MPQ Gas Buyback

Currently, MPQ has 13 wells; 10 which are gas lift wells with the working pressure of 42 – 56 barg. By 2021 all wells are expected to require gas lift to flow. During normal operation gas lift is supplied from the IP compressor discharge downstream of the exchanger at the gas export header. In case of compressor trip or after planned shutdown after 2021 MPQ cannot restart without any modification.

Currently, the project is at the Detailed Design stage.

Oil export system upgrading

Oil export system upgrading

PA-A Minimum oil turndown. Upgrade of the crude oil export system
To upgrade the crude oil export system and thus ensure the minimum oil turndown the project enables PA-A operation with increasing fluid temperature and low export rate beyond Q3 2023 to Q3 2024 (P50 Case)

Currently, the project is at the Detailed Design stage.

Produced water system performance improvement

Produced water system performance improvement

Improvement of produced water system performance
The process on Molikpaq platform topsides to be upgraded for processing up to 60 thousand barrels of produced water per day. At the first stage of the project, it was divided into two subprojects: the first subproject was to upgrade the produced water treatment, meanwhile another one - to increase injection volumes of produced water, but it was delayed to 2026 and defined as non-critical.

Currently, the project is at the FEED stage.

Pipe barn crane

Pipe barn crane

Installation of a new gantry crane at the pipe barn and reinforcement of the barn structures. The existing crane was manufactured in 1982. It is the main crane of the pipe barn and shall be upgraded.

Currently, the project is at the Detailed Design stage.

Replacement of low-pressure pipework

Replacement of low-pressure pipework

Replacement of LP pipework
The existing low pressure pipework to be replaced due to its poor condition that has been confirmed by wall thickness tests. Replacement of LP pipework is deemed to be critical for PA-A drilling operations.

Currently the project is at the Detailed Design stage.
